Yellow jersey up for grabs at Velo 29 Altura Sportive Series

North Yorkshire-based events offer competitive element with three classifications set up

The yellow jersey will be up for grabs for sportive riders keen for an extra competitive challenge after Velo 29 Altura launched their Sportive Series 2014.

Consisting of three events in North Yorkshire, jerseys for the best youth rider, King of the Mountain and GC leader will be up for grabs at each, with points accumulated towards the overall jerseys.

Riders can compete for the white, yellow and polka dot jerseys at the Velo 29 Altura Sportive Series

Unique in the UK, the three sportives each feature three different routes too, with jerseys up for grabs on each.

Starting with the Daffodils Sportive on Saturday April 26, the event rolls out from Thirsk and takes in Farndale, with the 25 per cent ramps of Blakey Bank en route.

It is followed by the Endeavour Sportive on Saturday July 12, which starts in Stockton and offers closed roads and a motor cycle escort on five routes, ranging in distance from 32 miles to the 108-mile “Le Tour de Moor” – the latter featuring 10,000ft of ascending.

Finally, the series concludes with the White Horse Sportive on Saturday September 27, with the White Horse of Kilburn offering one King of the Mountain points as it approaches gradients of up to 25 per cent.

Carlton Bank, previously forming part of the national championship course, is also included on the route.
