Tour of Wessex
Is one sportive not enough for you? The infamous Tour of Wessex, one of the world’s biggest multi-day sportives, sees riders tackle consecutive centuries on three days, with more than 7,500m of climbing thrown into the mix. It’s an event which has rightly earned a reputation as one of the UK’s toughest.
The 2014 ride will take place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend of May 24-26. The full Tour of Wessex experience will see riders test themselves over 334 miles of the beautiful Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon countryside.
Riders can also choose to tackle the ‘medium’ Tour of Wessex, with rides of 73, 83 and 57 miles, for a total of 213 miles, and entries are also available for individual stages.
Entry costs £105 for the full route, £90 for the medium route, or £30-35 for an individual stage. Each day’s ride returns to the event HQ in Somerton, where riders can camp for £12 per night, while fully furnished tents are also available for hire, and plenty of hotels and B&Bs are available in the area.
