Ride London-Surrey 100
The Ride London-Surrey 100 is the UK’s biggest sportive after more than 15,000 riders, including RoadCyclingUK’s Mark Bishop, completed the inaugural event in August 2013.
The sportive gives riders the unique opportunity to tackle a 100-mile course on closed roads, starting in the Olympic Park, heading out into the Surrey Hills, and finishing in front of BuckinghamPalace on The Mall. The route includes three key climbs: Newlands Corner, Leith Hill and Box Hill.
The 2014 edition will take place on the morning of Sunday August 10, with the sportive followed by a professional race which follows an extended version of the route.
The ballot for the Ride London-Surrey 100 closed when it reached 80,000, with riders set to find out if they have been successful by February 15. However, charity entries are still available, and other UK sportives to take place on closed roads include the Etape Pennines in England, the Etape Caledonia in Scotland and the Etape Cymru in Wales.
