Six ways to make the most of the end of summer on the bike

Put your late-season form to good use

Get out and ride

It sounds simple but the best way to make the most of the end of summer is… to just get out and ride.

Summer will soon be over and we’ll be heading into autumn, which remains a fine time to be out on the bike, but once into the depths of winter, and the ice-cold mornings, endless layers of kit and short days that come with it, we’ll once again be craving for the arrival of the spring of 2015.

Make the most of what good weather remains

The evenings are still light enough to take an extended loop home from work but that will soon change and, come late October when Daylight Saving Time ends and the clocks are turned back, the sun will set before 5pm.

Make time to ride and enjoy what remains of summer and any fine weather that presents itself. Grab whatever time you can, whether that’s a weekend club run or just a short spin in the sun to loosen the legs and relax the mind.
