Holme Moss, England
Holme Moss took centre stage on July 6 2014 when the Tour de France visited Yorkshire.
The 4.7km ascent, given the exotic title of the Côte de Holme Moss in the Tour’s route book, featured as part of stage two from York to Sheffield. Holme Moss was the only category two climb on a route littered with category three and four ascents that made for a tough day in the saddle.
Holme Moss was already something of a mecca for Yorkshire cyclists, too, and became a whole lot busier with UK riders who wanted to ride a stage of the Tour de France.
