VIP Ski and Hammer Sports have teamed up to give riders the chance to tackle this summer’s Morzine Sportive as part of a week’s riding in the French Alps.
The trip, from Friday June 20 to Friday June 27, will see riders take on the grueling sportive, which scales the Col de Joux Plane – with a maximum gradient of 11 per cent – and the Col de Joux Verte, on which Bernard Hinault’s 33-minute record is still to be broken.
Taking place on June 22, the 160km Morzine Haut Chablais includes both climbs plus an additional three cols to account for 3,800m of climbing. The shorter 110km Morzine Chablais Senior takes in the Col de Joux Plane and one further climb to take the total ascent to 2,520m.
Sportive experts from Hammer Sports will be on hand to offer advice and guidance, while a free bike fit is offered on arrival. Guided rides are also available throughout the week, either side of the main event, and a recovery day is planned after the sportive.
Accommodation is provided at VIP Ski’s Alaska Lodge, which has a wet suite with hot tub and sauna, and food tailored to cyclists’ needs.
Prices for the week start at £490 per person, based on two people sharing a room for seven nights. Shorter, alternative packages are available at a lower cost with all prices including half board accommodation.
