Rising cyclo-cross star Hannah Payton will be among the riders targeting Women’s Tour Series success on the road for Britain’s newest team, WyndyMilla-Reynolds.
The newly-turned 20-year-old, who represented Great Britain at the ‘cross world championships and also competed in the World Cup round at Koksijde, forms part of a newly-announced seven-strong women’s squad.
British brand WyndyMilla formerly supported MG Maxifuel, and will now join with carbon wheel specialists Reynolds to form a women’s squad, men’s squad and development squad as WyndyMilla-Reynolds.
And Director Henry Furniss, who along with fellow director Jamie Scott forms part of the men’s squad, is delighted to have their first opportunity of title sponsorship.
He said: “After being involved in top flight cycling sponsorship for the past two years we’re ecstatic to be in a position to become title sponsor for the first time in 2014.
Six of the seven female riders set to ride for the team have already been confirmed, with Payton joined by fellow Brits Keira McVitty, 18, Rebecca Womersley, 20, and Cassie McGoldrick, 19.
American Mary Costello, 20, and Tamiko Butler, 23 – from Antigua & Barbuda – complete the line-up with a seventh rider to be confirmed.
The men’s squad consists of Furniss, Scott, 24-year-old Jake Hales, Adam Cotterill, 27, and Luke Merrilees, 25 while the three riders named in the development squad are 14-year-old Hamish Turnbull and 15-year-old duo Harry Paine and Isla Rush.
They will race on custom-built, WyndyMilla framesets, with Shimano 9000 groupsets and Reynolds’ carbon-clincher wheelsets.
And the team – who insist their chief targets will be the Women’s Tour Series, National Road Series and a strong Nat-B race calendar for the men – will be hard to miss in the peloton thanks to their striking pink kits.
Scott added: “I speak for all when I say there’s a huge degree of excitement within the camp.”
