Places still available for Wiggle Dragon Ride after website crash

Unprecedented demand causes Human Race site to go down on first day of sale

Places are still available on next year’s Wiggle Dragon Ride despite the Human Race website crashing due to unprecedented demand on the first day of sale yesterday (Monday September 29).

The popular Welsh sportive returns for its 12th year on Sunday June 7 with four distances on offer, including the 302km Dragon Devil, which debuted last year.

A 43-kilometre Corto, 153-kilometre Medio Fondo and the 226-kilometre Gran Fondo are also waiting to be slayed, while there is a WomenOnly Cycletta covering 42 kilometres too.

New for this year, organisers have also launched the Dragon Tour, a three-day sportive for which more information can be found here.

More than 20,000 people logged onto the Human Race website on Monday, which has now be restored to full functionality.

CEO Nick Rusling said: “We would like to apologise for the problems the Human Race Events website experienced yesterday.

“More than 20,000 people tried to log on in the first 30 minutes, and despite a significant upgrade in preparation for the launch, it simply could not cope with demand.

“Extra measures are now in place to ensure it can manage everybody logging back on today.”

Places for the 2015 Wiggle Dragon Ride, which will roll out of Margam Park, can be booked at www.humanrace.co.uk/cycling.
