Adidas are back. In the last couple of years the German company’s made a concerted effort to return to the cycling market, and their autumn/winter 2016 range features jackets, tights and gilets for men and women.
First up is the Belgements jacket. Created for the tough conditions associated with the spring Classics, the jacket is designed to be lightweight and packable, but still weatherproof enough to be used as an outer layer in the toughest of conditions. Continuing their theme of making bike clothing as light as possible, Adidas claim the Belgements jacket weighs 335g, and is made from a 4-way stretch, wind blocking padded shell fabric. Inside it has 40g Primaloft Sport padding, placed around the heat zones on the body.
The lower part of the jacket is splash resistant, and the elasticated hem at the bottom can be tightened to provide a better fit if required. To negate the fact that it’s only available in black, there are reflective dots on the upper arms and reflective logos as a nod to visibility. The men’s Belgements jacket comes in at £140, and the women’s version is at £135. There are a couple more colour options than the men’s jacket, with a white and a yellow on top of the classic black.
