Sarah Storey will be among the Team GB para-cycling riders competing in a time trial at a two-day cycling event to be held at Blenheim Palace.
Storey, a multiple Paralympic and para-cycling world champion, will tackle the 20km through the grounds of Blenheim Park on Saturday August 18.
She won the women’s time trial at last year’s Bike Blenheim Palace event in a time of 28.29, less than two-and-a-half minutes behind reigning national para-cycling time trial champion, Michael Hutchinson.
“I loved riding the Time Trial event and having closed roads and such a big field made for exciting competition,” she said.
“It’s the perfect place to start racing and for the seasoned racers a real privilege to have a traffic free course!”
Shaun Mckeown and Mark Colbourne will be among the other members of Great Britain’s para-cycling team to ride in the event. Other events scheduled for Saturday August 18 include a 40km off-road sportive, and a bike polo tournament.
Events taking place on Sunday August 19 include a 60 and 100 mile sportive through the Costwolds AONB, competitive events for Brompton riders, a 26.2 mile ride for the Breast Cancer Care charity. Family rides and cycle skills events for children will be held on both days.
Brands including Cinelli, Campagnolo, Enigma Titanium, Juice Lubes, and Rotor will be among those exhibiting in the ‘event village’. Participants can raise funds for the charity, Breast Cancer Care.
