Cornwall’s Festival of Sport, which included three cycling events, has been declared a success.
The three-day festival in Penzance opened last Friday and featured 100km and 150km sportives, as well as 40km ‘cycletta’ for women.
Running, opening water swimming, and triathlon events were also staged, attracting 3,000 spectators.
Olympic gold medalist, Helen Glover, cheered on the participants. Glover, from Truro, praised the range of activities.
“It’s great to see so many people getting active here on the Cornish coastline where I have lived and trained for many years,” she said.
Retired footballer, Lee Dixon, rode the 150km sportive.
Open air concerts were held at St Michael’s Mount last Friday and Saturday evenings, which included rock band, Reef.
Nick Rusling, CEO of event organisers, Human Race, thanked partners Visit Cornwall, St Aubyn Estates and Cornwall Council.
