Organisers of a new 100-mile traffic-free sportive are looking for up to 300 entrants to tackle their closed-circuit challenge.
The Thruxton 100, an approximate 42 laps of Thruxton Circuit, Hampshire, will take place on the weekend of September 7-8, organised by Action Medical Research.
Promising a stress-free ride, with no cars and no hills, on one of the fastest, longest race tracks in the UK, participants will ride alongside those tackling the RIDE24 challenge.
Based on a former wartime airfield, the Thruxton Circuit follows the lines of the perimeter road and offers long, sweeping corners and tighter ‘complex’ and club chicanes to negotiate.
On-site camping is available for those wishing to make a weekend of it, while there are three different start times for those willing to take on the 100-mile challenge.
Riders wishing to join the RIDE24 participants on the start line will roll out at 2pm on the Saturday, while there is also a 10pm nocturne ride the same day.
Finally, there is a 7am start on the Sunday, with all places costing £50 with free parking.
Less-experienced riders are advised to allow up to ten hours to finish the course.
All funds raised from the unique sportive will go to supporting the work of Action Medical Research, a UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research.
