While Nairo Quintana (Movistar) left with the maglia rosa on his shoulders after three weeks of racing, the real battle was, of course, to see who claimed the title of 2014 RoadCyclingUK Fantasy Giro d’Italia champion.
That title goes to David Bailey’s Missile Fire team, which accumulated 5040 points to top the table, with Quintana among the riders to help David to victory. As a result, he rides away on Fuji Sportif 2.1 Compact bike worth £650, courtesy of Evans Cycles.
Meanwhile, Jared Crane claims second prize, with his team, Saints, earning 5013 points over the first Grand Tour of the season. Jared wins six free entries to Evans Cycles’ series of RideIt sportives.
And who completes the podium? That honour goes to Eric Spence, whose Bicycle Dynamos squad amassed 4977 points to earn their directeur sportif a BMC Racing team jersey.
We also had weekly prizes up for grabs, with the top scoring manager on each of the three weeks of the Giro winning two free tickets to an Evans Cycles RideIt sportive. Jared Crane won on week one, George Chapman topped the table during week two and Will Ashon triumphed on week three.
