Sunday will see the winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award crowned in Leeds, and a certain Tour de France champion is in the running for the prestigious prize.
With Mark Cavendish scooping the award in 2011, and Sir Bradley Wiggins being voted top dog last year, a win for Chris Froome would see road cycling win an unprecedented third consecutive SPOTY award.
The response to Froome’s nomination, however, even among the cycling community, has been little more than a collective shrug.
