Canyon Ultimate CF SL 9.0 – first look

German brand Canyon has become a firm favourite with RCUK readers. You voted the Ultimate CF SLX ‘bike of the year’ last year, and turned up in numbers when we hosted the RCUK test track at the London Bike Show in February to try their steeds for yourselves. The latest machine through the gates of RCUK Towers is the Ultimate CF SL 9.0 – the more affordable sibling of the SLX.

The Canyon Ulimtae CF SL 9.0 is the latest machine arrived for test at RCUK Towers

More affordable, however, does not mean second class. This has every appearance of a high-quality machine, dressed in a full SRAM Force 22 groupset and rolling on Mavic Ksyrium SLS hoops. It’s a little heavier than the range-topping SLX, if ‘heavy’ is the right word to describe a bike that tipped our scale at the UCI’s legal minimum for racing, 6.8kg – not bad for a bike with a price tag of £2299.
