100 Greatest Cycling Climbs app released

App allows users to track down and tick off Britain's most iconic ascents

Simon Warren, the man behind the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs, has released an app to help you track down and ride all of the iconic British ascents featured in the popular book.

The app contains all content from the original book, including key statistics like length, height gain, summit height, average gradient and maximum gradient, as well as a profile and directions.

Users can utilise their smartphone’s GPS to find their closest climbs, so you can tick off those ascents in your local hunting ground.

The 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs app contains all content from the original book and let’s users track down climbs

“No matter were you find yourself, if you have your bike and you can spare the time you can head straight
to the nearest climb on the list and bag it,” Warren says.

You can also view climbs on a map, and sort ascents by region and rating on Warren’s ten-point scale.

The 100 Great Cycling Climbs app “really comes alive” when synced with Strava, Warren says. That will allow you to see how many climbs you have ridden, as well as your times for each climb.

“Once your ride history has been processed your home screen will proudly display your ‘100 Climbs score’, and the bigger the number, the bigger your bragging rights,” Warren adds.

The app can also give you directions to a climb

“You can quickly and simply check your efforts on each climb, compare times over the years and watch your total build as you keep ticking them off.” You can also manually tick off climbs you’ve ridden (“no cheating,” Warren says).

The 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs app is available now through the Apple App Store and Google Play for £5.99.
