Joaquim Rodriguez’s Canyon Aeroad CF
Joaquim Rodriguez’s Canyon Aeroad CF
Unlike Quintana, Joaquim Rodriguez stuck with Canyon’s Aeroad CF for the Giro d’Italia before upgrading to the Aeroad CF SLX for the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana.
Rodriguez was crowned world number one at the end of the 2013 season and Canyon gifted the Spaniard this striking machine at the start of the 2014 campaign. Rodriguez upgraded to the Aeroad CF SLX (a bike we featured in our sprinters’ steeds round-up after team-mate Alexander Kristoff rode it to two stage wins) after it was launched on the eve of the Tour de France, but the 35-year-old previous custom steed stayed on the team car as a spare bike.
The diminutive Spaniard rides an extra small (50cm) frame, with a miniature 110mm headtube to match – with the bike equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate wheels, Ritchey finishing kit and a superb Purito-themed saddle, a nod to Rodriguez’s nickname. Exploding dynamite, a purito cigar and ‘#1’ all feature on Selle Italia’s graphical homage to Rodriguez.
The Canyon Aeroad CF SLX features in the RCUK100 – RoadCyclingUK’s definitive guide to the 100 best products for 2015. Coming soon.
