Condor Super Acciaio and Zullo Vergine – first look

Here’s a first look at our March test fleet: two machines you can meet in person if you’re visiting Bespoked Bristol, the UK’s hand made bike show, this weekend.

The Condor Super Acciaio has been supplied by Condor Cycles, who designed and developed the bike with input from the Rapha Condor Sharp UCI Continental team.

It’s a modern steel race bike that includes many of the design features found on the carbon models that dominate the market.

The Condor Super Acciaio

Developed alongside Condor’s carbon Leggero, with input from the Rapha Condor Sharp race team, the Super Acciaio includes a tapered head tube, oversized down tube, and press fit, BB30 bottom bracket. Read the full story here.

The custom tubeset, developed by Condor and their partners, Dedacciai, is triple-butted, and paired with a full carbon Deda Nero Supremacy fork with tapered steerer.

Our test machine is equipped with a full Campagnolo Super Record 11 groupset, Campagnolo Bora Ultra Two wheelset, and Deda and Fizik finishing kit.

The Zullo Vergine has been supplied by Mosquito Bikes, and travelled to north London from its birthplace near Verona, in a workshop on the shores of Lake Garda.

Tiziano Zullo made his name supplying handbuilt frames to the Dutch TVM professional squad, beginning in 1986 a seven-year relationship that would see him build frames for riders including Phil Anderson, Jesper Skibby, and Dimitri Konyshev.

The Zullo Vergine

At the heart of the Vergine supplied to RCUK is a frame made from Columbus XCr stainless steel, TIG welded rather than lugged, and paired with a Columbus carbon fork.

The beefy 8mm drop outs are rounded at their junction with the chain and seatstays, while the headtube is a conventional 1″1/8 diameter. It is finished in a striking paint scheme that seems to take its inspiration from Jackson Pollock.

Our test machine is equipped with a Campagnolo Super Record 11 groupset, Campagnolo Eurus wheelset, and Deda and Fizik finishing kit.
