dhb Vaeon Roubaix Padded Three-Quarter Bib-Tight
The lined bib-short and knee warmer combo is the first choice for many riders (this one included), but another option is the three-quarter, aka the bib-knicker. The Vaeon Roubaix is dhb’s take on a cycling staple, and made from a 235g lycra they call Lombardia, and which they describe as “heavily compressive”. It’s an 85 per cent nylon, 15 per cent elastene weave, brushed on the inside for insulation, and recommended for temperatures between eight and 15 degrees; perfect for the time of year, then.
The insert is a CyTech Giro, in the classic love heart shape and recommended by dhb for half-days or “60 miles before lunch”. The braces are made from lycra rather than a polyester mesh, a design that always finds favour at RCUK, and brushed on the inside to a fleecy finish throughout. Good stuff. The hems are finished with a simple, unbroken silicone band, and the legs with a strip of reflective material on each calf.
The dhb Vaeon Roubaix Padded Three-Quarter Bib-Tight comes in black with a red insert and in six sizes from X Small to Extra Extra Large. It costs £47.99.
