Evoc are a company that know more than a thing or two about bike bags and this one here, the Bike Travel Bag Pro, is the leader in its class
While it’s technically a bag, the Travel Bag Pro comes with glass fibre support struts that fit through the corners to give the bag its shape, and hard plastic struts to add rigidity to the wheel compartments.
That basically makes it half bag, half box, and keeps the weight down as well, which is always a good idea as the heavier it is, the more likely it could be dropped (and the more excess baggage charges you could rack up). The support struts can be removed in order to pack the bag down for storage.
As well as two wheels on one end and a handle at the other, the bag has a clip-on wheel you can attach to the front which means, as well as dragging it along, you can wheel it about like a shopping trolley, albeit quite an expensive one.
The wheels, actually, are quite like bigger versions of the ones you’d get on roller blades back in the day, and the rubber texture ensures they’re quiet, roll smoothly and should last a little longer. Unlike those on a shopping trolley.
Another excellent feature is the bag is capable of transporting a whole variety of bikes. Your road bike, time trial bike, cross-country mountain bike and even a downhill bike can all fit in the same bag.
So if you’re given to a bit of cross-genre dalliance (and we won’t tell if you are, we promise) this is one bag that can take pretty much every bike you own. Not all at once, though, obviously.
Inside, the bag is well cushioned and comes with a velcro pad to protect the downtube and toptube. Evoc also throw in a road bike adapter, which is essentially a padded protective shield which the fork slides into.
At the other end of the bike, the bottom bracket rests on a protective block, which keeps the chainrings off the floor of the bag and provides an anchor point to strap the bike down. All that combines to ensure the Bike Travel Bag Pro does an impressive job at protecting your machine on its travels.
