Fixie Inc has always stood out in the market place for its distinctive and sometimes unusual approach to bicycle design, and its new Mod Cab is no exception.
The city commuting bike has been designed from scratch to tick all the boxes a typical commuting cyclist looks to tick. So there’s an Alfine 8-speed hub gear for reliable low maintenance shifting with a Gates Carbondrive belt drive to increase drivetrain longevity, disc brakes for decent stopping power in all weathers, and mudguards to keep your bum dry.
Most interesting of all the features on this prototype, though, is the top tube that accepts a D-lock, the first time we’ve seen anything like this. It’s certainly a more attractive option than the ugly lock mounts that come with most locks, or the many other solutions that commuters come up with for carrying locks when they’re not in use.
The reported price is €1999. More at www.cycles-for-heroes.com
