Kask KK-10 Race |
KS31 time trial helmet |
Kask helmets, the choice of Team Barloworld, currently campaigning in the Giro d’Italia, are relatively unknown in the competitive world of head protection but they feature all the credentials for safe, light and ventilated performance helmets.
An Italian company, Kask also produce mountaineering and industrial safety work helmets, but of interest to us is the KK-10 Race, being used by Robbie Hunter and Mauricio SOLER. The company’s top of the line offering is made using a polycarbonate external shell with a polystyrene core and an internal plastic skeleton to reinforce the helmet, 19 large vents and a claimed weight of 280g.
An ‘Up’n’Down Technology’ size adjustment system allows the helmet to cater for head sizes ranging from 53 to 61cm, and adjustments can easily be made on the move. A three-piece two layer CoolMax inner pad can be easily removed for cleaning, and the chin strap is wrapped in an anti-allergic leather pad for increased comfort. Available in a range of colours, but we reckon the carbon/white (pictured above right) is the best looker.
And with Team Barloworld competing in the Giro d’Italia at present, Kask took this opportunity to show off its latest helmet, the KS31 time trial helmet.
Helmets will be available shortly from AW Cycles in Reading, TriZone in St Albans, Elmy Cycles in Ipswich and also from the importers website www.ActiveLifeLogistics.co.uk.
