The Mini GPS, Power GPS and Super GPS hit the shelves in June last year, and offer a compact, affordable alternative to other GPS-ready computers out there, all dressed up in a great-looking package.
At just 30g and 3.3cm x 5.1cm, the Mini GPS is the smallest GPS-equipped bike computer on the market. Smaller, in fact, than many non-GPS computers from other brands. That one comes with a reasonable price tag of just £109.99, but if you’re after a little more functionality you’d be better off with the Power (£139.99). After that, though, is the one we have here – the Super GPS – which drops in at £159.99 and boasts the greatest functionality of the lot.
For that extra £50 you get improved battery life – 22hrs compared to ten on the Mini – and an ability to store more data on the device as well. The Mini GPS can record up to 100hrs of riding, the Power doubles that and the Super doubles that again, with 400hrs meaning you’re unlikely to ever run out of space.
You also get Bluetooth Smart connectivity on the Super, and that means call, text and email alerts on screen when it’s connected to your smartphone. You’ll also be able to use any Bluetooth sensors you already have with the device.
One stand out feature in the range, though, is the dual connectivity on the Super GPS with it featuring ANT+ in addition to Bluetooth Smart. That means it’ll communicate with almost any device or external sensor on the market, making it highly compatible.
It’s also worth mentioning the Glonass GPS chip, which Lezyne claim makes their bike computers equipped with the fastest and most accurate GPS on the market.
As well as the computers, Lezyne also launched GPS Root, an online platform specifically designed to work with the new units, and a smartphone app which will work with both the Power and Super units.
Stats-wise, the Super GPS is just 76g for a 7.3 x 4.7cm unit, and all functions are controlled by buttons on the side of the unit rather than touchscreen.
The one thing Lezyne’s units don’t have is live mapping, you’ll need to up your price range and look elsewhere for that, but if you’re after an affordable GPS computer with plenty of features, this could be the one.
