It's show time
The four-day London Bike Show opens at the Excel Centre on Thursday (February 12), with dozens of exhibitors set to showcase some of the latest bikes, gear and clothing for 2015.
Tickets cost £20 for adults on the door or £14 in advance from the London Bike Show website. Here’s what you can expect to see from Canyon, Bowman, Enigma, Bespoke Cycling, Lazer, Kask, Ritte and HOY Vulpine.
Let’s kick off with Canyon. Cast your mind back to the 2014 Eurobike show and the German firm showcased the MRSC Connected concept bike – and now it’s coming to London.
The MRSC is a futuristic machine with an active suspension system at the front and rear, and a series of sensors controlled from a ‘brain’ (which, for example, can detect when consumable items such as the chain and brake pads need replacing) designed by Deutsche Telekom, and compatible with iPhone and Android smartphone platforms.
Canyon have no immediate plans to put the MRSC into production but it gives a glimpse into what may be possible in the future.
Back to the present, however, and Canyon will be displaying two pro bikes: Nairo Quintana’s pink Ultimate CF SLX, which the Colombian rode on the final stage of the 2014 Giro d’Italia, and Alex Dowsett’s Speedmax CF time trial bike. Dowsett will also be doing a Q&A on the Canyon stand at 1pm on Saturday, followed by an autograph signing session.
Of course, Canyon will also be showcasing a selection of their 2015 range, including the Aeroad CF SLX, Ultimate CF SLX, Endurace CF and Inflite AL, alongside a new line-up of urban bikes.
Next up, Bowman Cycles…
