American titanium specialists Lynskey have introduced an ‘affordable’ Silver Series range, with two new road frames included in the five-strong collection.
The range also includes a tourer/commuter and two hardtail mountain bike frames, all handmade from 3Al-2.5V titanium in Lynskey’s factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
“Our mission for the Silver Series was to distill our 25 years of engineering experience with titanium into a family of bikes that takes our ‘cut no corners’ philosophy and delivers world class performance and quality at an unheard of value,” said Mark Lynskey, co-founder of Lynskey Performance Designs.
Of the two road frames, the Peloton is Lynskey’s long-distance machine, designed, they say, if your “road riding takes you to far-flung destinations or if lots and lots of miles are on your agenda.” As a result, the frame has a relaxed geometry, with a longer top tube, taller head tube and generous wheelbase designed to provide a stable and comfortable ride. The frame accepts a straight 1-1/8″ fork steerer tube and can accommodate 28mm tyres.
The Breakaway is the racier of the two models, with a slightly more aggressive geometry and shorter wheelbase to provide a more responsive ride. Like the peloton, it can also take 28mm tyres and accepts a 1-1/8″ fork.
The Viale, named after a region in north-west Italy, is the Silver Series’ tourer/commuter and, as a result, it has mudguard and rack mounts, which also earmark it as an affordable titanium frame for winter training duties. There’s also clearance for 30mm tyres, plus bosses for three water bottle cages, including one beneath the downtube. The Viale’s geometry sits between the Peloton and the Breakaway. Like all Lynskey frames, it comes with a lifetime warranty.
All models will cost £999.99, frame only, and will be available in the UK in approximately six weeks.
