Mark Cavendish’s custom Scott Addict

A custom painted Scott Addict for Mark Cavendish

Devastating. Breathtaking. Remarkable. Just some words that struggle to encapsulate the sheer velocity with which Mark Cavendish has been winning races this year. A win in the second stage of the 2009 Tour de France underlined his talent and ambition in the biggest race of them all.

But a rider isn’t anything without the right equipment, and in the Scott Addict Ltd, Cavendish has a truly capable bike. Columbia-HTC made the switch from Giant to Scott for the 2009 season and the riders haven’t looked back since, notching up 50 wins in total.

In the Addict Cavendish has one of the lightest carbon fibre frames currently available, and it’s also one of the stiffest, an essential ingredient for the powerful sprinter. For the 2009 Tour de France Scott pulled out all the stops and supplied the Brit with a beautifully rendered paint scheme for his special bike. It’s likely to get as many heads turning as his dominating sprinting does.

This ensure his bike stands out from the others…

The designers have looked to fighter planes from the Second World War and adorned a metal-type effect paint scheme, complete with details such as rivets and seams. But most eye-catching is the half-naked women wrapped in a Union Jack flag on the side of the head tube, similar to that which fighter pilots used to have painted to the nose cones of their planes.

Cavendish relies on Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 with deep-section Zipp wheels, and PRO supply the handlebars, 130mm Vibe track stem and seatpost. He rides a 52cm size frame.
