Race tech: bikes of the 2013 Giro d’Italia – part one

The bikes of the 2013 Giro d’Italia are almost as impressive as the scenery.

Cycling’s top-tier teams are equipped, naturally enough, with top-tier equipment, and the men of Cannondale Pro Cycling, Movistar, Orica-GreenEDGE, Radioshack-Leopard, Saxo-Tinkoff and Team Sky are equipped with the finest their multi-million dollar backers can supply.

That said, the Pro Continental squads invivted to the race have been far from overawed on the road, and are certainly not outgunned in terms of machinery, as these images of the Farnese Vini squad’s MCipollini RB1000s and RB800s attest.

Roz Jones is our lady with the lens in the corsa rosa paddock, and sent back these superb images from a snow-blown stage 15.
