The Continental Grand Prix 4 Season is a long-time favourite, not just as a winter tyre but, as the name suggests, a reliable year-round training tyre.
It is perhaps the ultimate fit-and-forget – reasonably fast, durable and offering good levels of grip. The 4-Season is modeled on the GP4000S tyre and, while not as fast as Conti’s flagship clincher, comes with additional puncture protection in the form of a bead-to-bead ‘Duraskin’ layer and two Vectran belts.
That makes the 4-Season well suited to Britain’s potholed and often debris-strewn roads. The Gatorskin is another popular – and tough – tyre in Continental’s range but we prefer the faster, more responsive ride of the 4-Season.
All that’s left to mention, then, is that the 4-Season is available in three widths – 23mm, 25mm and 28mm – and claimed weights remain competitive at 220g, 230g and 250g respectively.
