Online retail giant Wiggle will expand its range of Verenti bikes this year, increasing the range from four to 11 models.
We headed to Wiggle’s London HQ to check out the new machines and will highlight five key models over the following pages.
A cyclo-cross bike intended as an all-rounder rather than a race machine, another entry to the super-competitive sub-£1,000 carbon bike market, and an off-the-peg winter bike were among those to capture our attention. Two machines, equipped with Shimano Ultegra 6800 and a full SRAM Force 22 groupset respectively, hint at Wiggle’s ambitions for the brand.
Framesets from Wiggle’s Belgian manufacturing partner, complete groupsets on most machines, including Shimano’s heavily revised Sora offering, 4ZA finishing kit, and handbuilt wheels were a staple of many of the bikes we saw.
And with Wiggle, a frequent entry point for new cyclists, intent on retaining customers on their ‘journey’ through the sport by offering more sophisticated products from its house brands than previously (check back soon for our look at the new dhb clothing range), four more high-end bikes will be unveiled in April. For now, we’ll take a detailed look at the Substance, Defense, and Insight 0.4, and the Revelations SR 0.3 and SR 0.2 models.
