Vulpine have revealed their new spring/summer range for 2016 and it includes a number of new pieces, as well as old favourites returning in updated colours.
If you’re not familiar with Vulpine, they aim to make commuter wear for the ‘ride and destination’ – clothing which is functional on the bike and practical off it. The 2016 launch follows Vulpine’s successful crowd funding campaign in November 2015, in which the London-based firm raised £1,000,000 in 14 days.
Highlights from the new range include the Merino Sunset Hoodie (£119) – a piece, Vulpine say, designed for “throwing on first thing, or as the evening temperature drops in summer.” Merino is popular throughout the Vulpine range, with the wool’s wicking, temperature-regulating and anti-bacterial qualities well suited to casual riding.
The Breton T-Shirt (£39) is another new addition and is made from a lightweight ‘Dri-Release’ cotton – also said to be fast-wicking. Vulpine have ensured the care instructions are printed on the t-shirt, rather than placed on a label, and the stitching is flatlock – two measures to improve comfort. The t-shirt has a subtle cycling-specific cut, with the back slighter longer than the front.
Silk takes its turn with the High-Summer Vest and 3/4 Length Boat Neck T in the women’s range. Vulpine say they’ve opted for silk in this instance as the “extremely lightweight fabric is lightweight, hiding cutting edge performance.” Vulpine claim the silk is fast drying and odour-resistant.
Otherwise, Vulpine have refreshed the collection by introducing new colours on existing pieces, including the 100 per cent Merino Alpine Jersey, available in charcoal, petrol and yellow for men and charcoal, yellow and iris for women, and Men’s Summer Shorts, made from a lightweight, stretchy, fast-drying fabric, with a slim fit and available in navy, sea grey, stone and ultramarine.
