The London IG – Nocturne is now only weeks away.
A televised programme of night racing on a circuit in the City of London will be held again on Saturday June 9.
Team Sky’s Alex Dowsett, winner of last year’s elite men’s criterium, and Sarah Storey, multiple Paralympic champion, joined about 100 cyclists at a launch event last night.
Racing will take place around Smithfield Market before a crowd estimated in previous years at around 10,000.
Organisers say some 45,000 people have watched the event since its inception in 2007.
Elite level riders will close a programme that begins at 4pm with a host of support races, including events for riders of folding bikes and penny farthings.
A longest skid competition and racing for five-strong teams from City firms also feature.
The main events – an elite men’s criterium won last year by Team Sky’s Alex Dowsett, and an elite women’s criterium – will be held under the lights of London’s historic Smithfield district.
Channel Four will screen the race, which will be available on demand from the broadcaster’s 4OD channel.
