Following a successful season in 2009, Sigma Sport – Specialized, an elite cycling team based in London, continues to grow in 2010, becoming a UCI Continental Registered squad.
The relationship between the two companies has been galvanised by the team’s success on and off the bike over the past three years. The team contains National Champions, Olympians and Grand Tour Riders as well as younger riders eager to learn and bursting with potential.
For 2010 the team has taken another step forward, being registered with the UCI with Elite ‘Continental’ status and aims to ride numerous UCI events abroad.
Race Program
The team will be riding the British Cycling Premier calendar Road race series and aiming for further success after Wouter Sybrandy’s win in the 2009 East Yorkshire Classic.
After a strong ride throughout last year’s Sweetspot city centre circuit race series, the ‘Tour Series’, the team finished fifth overall and Sigma Sport–Specialized are hoping for a return invite to this exciting series.
Believing in supporting the national series events, the team will also be riding the eight event British Cycling National Criterium Series. Sigma Sport–Specialized will also target arguably the biggest races on the road calendar, the National Road Race and National Criterium Championships.
The team will be heading back to the Irish RAS once again, to defend Simon Richardson’s 2009 overall win and with Kit Gilham aiming to reclaim his 2008 King of the mountains jersey.
In addition to the domestic racing Sigma Sport – Specialized will be aiming to ride in UCI International stage races and single day races, with the exact calendar to be confirmed in the coming weeks but expected to start with the Paris –Troyes UCI 1.2 semi classic on 14th March following a training camp in Tuscany towards the end of February.
A new team website will be announced shortly and please find attached the new Team clothing design from Giordana.
