Here’s your chance to put Mario Cipollini – the man who amassed 191 victories during a 15-year career – under the spotlight. RoadCyclingUK has been granted the privilege of putting questions to Super Mario – some of which could be yours.
Cipo’s story is a rich and colourful tale of animal print skin suits, pre-race cigarettes and the possible invention of the sprint train, which helped the Lion King to 12 Tour de France stages wins, an astonishing 42 Giro d’Italia victories and a World Championship.
Since retiring in 2005 (and following a brief comeback in 2008) the 42-year-old has been busy designing bikes, while sportivists can ride alongside the sprint legend at the Cipollini Gran Fondo on April 22.
And Cipo has remained as outspoken off the bike as he was during his career, with Mark Cavendish, Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck all in the firing line.
So what do you want to know about one of the sport’s greats? Post your burning question in this forum thread and we’ll put a selection to Mario.
