We have all been there – a puncture, a dropped chain or just a badly-timed ‘sit down’ which leaves us cursing our beloved machines.
For Marcel Kittel that moment arrived with two kilometres to go, and the big German took out his anger on his Giant Propel – slamming the steed into the ground in anger at his missed opportunity.
I’m VERY sorry for throwing my beloved Giant Propel on the ground. I still love it! We’re just having an intense relationship. #deepemotions

And as with all heat of the moment reactions, it seems he instantly regretted it – posting this photo on Twitter this morning.
Tried to keep our relationship going after our fight yesterday. Apologized to my sweetheart this morning! #giantLove pic.twitter.com/KiQxIESOjN

Whether he faces any wider-reaching consequences than a broken-hearted bike remains to be seen. But if Kittel should ever want to take out his anger on his bike again, perhaps he should try to do so with the same style of Sir Bradley Wiggins at last year’s Giro del Trentino. How’s this for a bit of parking?
