Roger Hammond's team unveils strong line-up for 2015 season

Roger Hammond’s British UCI Continental team Madison-Genesis has bolstered its line-up for the 2015 season with a string of high-profile signings.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit is the first of Britain’s five UCI continental teams to unveil their 2015 line-up, with Irish former world track champion Martyn Irvine and Tour of Britain King of the Mountains Mark McNally among seven new additions.

Erick Rowsell, brother of track star Joanna, steps down a level from UCI Pro Continental team NetApp-Endura to return to the British domestic scene, where he previously enjoyed success with Endura Racing.

Teenage Manx ace Joe Evans, rising time trial star James McLaughlin, British junior road race champion Tristan Robbins and Matt Cronshaw, signed from Velosure-Giordana, have also been added to the squad.

Hammond’s team has also retained the core of the line-up which achieved a string of successes in 2014, with Commonwealth Games points champion Tom Scully among those staying for another year.

London Nocturne winner Tobyn Horton and Tom Stewart, who won plaudits for his role in the successful Tour of Britain stage six break having previously won a round of the Tour Series, will both be staying.

Liam Holohan, the team’s highest-placed finisher at the Tour of Britain in 28th, Dom Jelfs, Mike Northey and Matt Holmes are also retained.

National under-23 time trial champion Scott Davies, who finished tenth in the Commonwealth Games road race just days before his 19th birthday, is not in the 2015 squad, with Alex Peters, Pete Hawkins, Andy Tennant and Ian Bibby also moving on.

Hammond said of the team: “The 2014 racing season was a great success and I feel the transfer season was a continuation of that.

“I am really pleased the successful core of this year’s team is returning again next year, ensuring we already had a very firm foundation with which to build the team.

“With the variety of the new riders coming to the team, from national junior champions through to international race winners, I couldn’t have hoped for a better line up to go into battle with next year. It’s going to be exciting.”
