Peter Sagan (Cannondale Pro Cycling) has done little to harm his status as pre-Tour favourite for the green jersey this week.
The Slovak national champion made the most of a category three climb just five kilometres from the finish to position himself in an elite selection of 30 riders on the descent to the finish in Bad Ragaz.
Saxo-Tinkoff sprinter, Daniele Bennati, was the only rider who could get anywhere near Sagan in the final sprint, but the Tourminator’s victory was never in doubt.
Sagan has always felt at home in Switzerland and by notching his seventh Tour de Suisse victory in three editions, strengthened a bond that has made the race a magnet for his followers.
