The dust has started to settle on the first Grand Tour of the season, with the celebrations in Trieste over and attention turning to the rest of the season.

From its departure in Belfast, more than three weeks ago, to the final stage in Trieste on Sunday, the 2014 Giro d’Italia proved to be an enthralling spectacle.

Wet, slippery roads, brutal climbs and a snowstorm on the Stelvio – the Fight for Pink certainly demanded the very best from every rider involved.

Some 156 riders finished the race, with Nairo Quintana top of the pile in the maglia rosa – his first career Grand Tour triumph.
