Hollywood could not have scripted it any better – Michael Rogers, back in the peloton after being cleared of doping, marking his return with a first career Grand Tour stage win.
And it proved to be a popular one too, with many of his fellow riders offering their congratulations on Twitter after his perfectly-timed attack.
Twitter has, throughout this Giro, also become awash with riders showing off scars and road rash from what has been a crash-laden race so far. And that continued after stage 11, with birthday boy Dylan van Baarle (Garmin-Sharp) among the riders to take a tumble.
