Giro d’Italia 2014: stage three – rider reaction

Marcel Kittel makes it a birthday to remember; Ivan Santaromita unhappy

As birthday celebrations go, Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) made it one to remember with a stunning victory on stage three of the Giro d’Italia.

Starting his sprint from well back, the German looked second favourite as the Dublin finish line approached but stormed to victory ahead of Team Sky’s Ben Swift.

Not everybody was happy though, with Luke Durbridge (Orica-GreenEDGE) taking to Twitter to criticise the route and team-mate Ivan Santaromita angry at some of his fellow members of the peloton.

We have rounded up the best rider reaction as the Giro d’Italia prepares to resume hostilities in Italy tomorrow (Tuesday May 13).

Read what the likes of Kittel, Santaromita, Nicolas Roche and Michael Matthews had to say below.
