Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo)
Peter Sagan’s Tinkoff-Saxo debut has been eagerly anticipated and the Slovakian national champion will be keen to get off to a flying start.
No mug against the clock and, with three successive Tour de France green jerseys to his name, a fierce contender in the sprints, Sagan certainly has the pedigree to win the race overall.
With a strong team to back him, including Michael Morkov, who fifth overall last year, Sagan is certainly one of the men to watch.
Tinkoff-Saxo have vowed to also protect time trial ace Maciej Bodnar early on to see how the race pans out – and have promised to ride from the front to combat the crosswinds.
So often forced to sprint in the past with little backing from his lead-out train, it will be interesting to see how Sagan’s move to Tinkoff-Saxo plays out for the 24-year-old.
Arguably the biggest transfer of the 2015 season, there will be huge pressure on Sagan to start bagging results for his new team – and to convert one of his six top ten finishes at Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix into a win..
