If you thought top class bike racing had ended with the departure of the Grand Départ and the return of the Tour de France to French soil, think again.
Yorkshire has remained a hot bed of wheel-to-wheel action, with the fourth round of the Elite Circuit Series held in Beverley last Friday, and the second round of the Grand Prix road series in Ryedale three days later.
Britain’s top domestic road teams have claimed centre stage following the departure of the WorldTour peloton, and for Roger Hammond’s Madison-Genesis squad it was a tumultous weekend, tasting the highs of victory with Mike Northey’s circuit race victory, and learning some valuable lessons on the roads around Ryedale.
Check out this fascinating and energetic video from Madison-Genesis, which takes you to the heart of professional cycling. The detailed footage of Hammond’s advice from the car to rising star, Alex Peters – winner of the Tour of the Reservoir – offers a privileged close-up on the strategic battle that unfolds during a race.
Madison-Genesis will be back in action this Sunday (July 27), for the Circuit of the Fens, the third round of the Grand Prix road series, and next Wednesday (July 30) for round six of the Elite Circuit Series – the Welsh Open.
