Sigma Sport continues sponsorship of women’s team

Mule Bar Girl-Sigma Sport bid for The Women's Tour starting place in 2014

Sigma Sport will continue to sponsor women’s cycling team, Mule Bar Girl-Sigma Sport, the Surrey-based retailer confirmed today.

Sigma Sport’s men’s team was forced to withdraw from UCI racing this team after being unable to find a replacement for former co-sponsors IG, but their partnership with Team Mule Bar Girl is now set to continue.

Ian Whittingham, co-founder of Sigma Sport, is delighted the brand’s partnership with women’s team Mule Bar Girl-Sigma Sport will continue

And while a place on the start line at The Women’s Tour the team’s prime target, Sigma Sport co-founder Ian Whittingham believes the team’s work off the bike is as important.

“We are delighted to continue our support of a local women’s team,” he said.

“The great thing about this group of girls is the amount they put back into the sport. For us, seeing what they do to get more women riding and racing is just as important as the results they delivered at the 2013 Tour Series.”

The team, who finished second in this year’s Johnson Health Tech Series, behind Hannah Barnes’ MG-Maxifuel, will ride Cannondale’s Supersix Evo bikes with SRAM Red components next year.
