Rising Polish star Rafal Majka has come of age this year, impressing at both the Giro d’Italia and in his home country at the Tour of Poland. Having finished fourth during stage 15 of the former, Majka went on to finish seventh overall after a consistent showing on the treacherous climbs of the route. He also wore the leaders jersey at the Tour of Poland after finishing third and fifth on the two punchy Italian stages at the start of the Tour.
Majka eventually finished fourth at the Tour of Poland alongside topping the points classification before riding consistently at the Vuelta to finish 19th overall. The Polish star then went on to finish second at Milano-Torino, before finishing his season with third at Il Lombardia after joining Alejandro Valverde and Dan Martin as they bid to catch Joaquim Rodriguez on Villa Vergano. After an encouraging year, Majka is likely to be a name to watch in 2014.
