Pozzovivo earned a move to Ag2r-La Mondiale after impressing in the Italian mountains while with Colnago-CSF Bardiani in 2012. And the 30-year-old climbing ace continued such form this year, even after a crash forced him to abandon his defence of the Giro del Trentino. Tenth overall at the Giro, Pozzovivo earned three top-ten finishes during the tough mountain stages and continued his form in his home country with strong performances when the Tour of Poland rolled out there.
Dr Pozzovivo – so called because of his economics degree – also performed well at the Vuelta, finishing third on Monte da Groba on his way to sixth place overall, before continuing his good form in Italy, with fourth place at Milano-Torino. His maiden year with the French team has certainly been positive and points to more to come in 2014.
