Tour de Yorkshire
Sunday July 13
The Tour de Yorkshire will take place on Sunday July 13 – just one week after the Grand Départ – and offers riders the chance to ride the majority of stage one. Organisers say part of the route has been tweaked to avoid busy roads which, while closed for the Tour, will be open to traffic for the sportive.
The 120-mile route starts and finishes in Ilkley, venturing into the Yorkshire Dales to rack up a lug-numbing 2,833m of climbing on what is deemed – by the Tour de France at least – as a ‘flat’ stage…
The event is organised by the Railway Children charity and riders are required to pay a £55 entry fee, along with a commitment to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
Entry fee: £55 + £100 sponsorship pledge
Route: 120 miles
