Version 4.0 includes Instagram integration, one-tap social sharing and real-time audio alerts

Strava have launched a updated version of their mobile app for iPhone and Android packed with a host of new features.

Strava have combined their running and cycling apps, while retaining their sport-specific layouts and added several new features to the activity feed.

The app now has Instagram integration, which allows riders to share photos from their ride. The feature originally launched on the Strava.com activity feed in January 2013 and more than one million photos have been shared since then.

The updated app also makes it easier for users to make comments or give kudos to other riders through new one-tap icons. Grouped activities, maps and one-tap social sharing are also included in the app, which is available free from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

A premium version is also available, either for a monthly fee or an annual payment, which includes in-depth analytics and real-time audio alerts at the beginning, middle and end of a segment to help riders judge their effort.

Stava’s Alex Mather said: “Our mission is to motivate athletes all over the world. This latest mobile app brings Strava’s unqiue social experience like beautiful maps, Instagram photos and lots more to runners and cyclists everywhere.”

The app is now available in 11 different languages – with Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Traditional Chinese added for the new version.
