Some of the best segments to tackle on this year's route from Yorkshire to the Alps

The Tour de France never fails to inspire people to get out and ride, and pit their wits on the same routes the professionals tackle.

And this year, Strava enthusiasts will be able to compare their efforts against the WorldTour’s elite and compete for King of the Mountains titles across some of the most fearsome climbs in Yorkshire, the Alps, the Pyrenees and more.

Each of the 21 stages of the Tour have been plotted out on the ever popular route-mapping site, with popular segments highlighted en route.

With 63 climbs in all on a hugely demanding route, there may be a few unwanted ‘uh oh’ notifications over the next three weeks – particularly with some of Strava’s pros set for the Leeds start line.

White jersey contender Romain Bardet (Ag2r-La Mondiale), Chris Froome’s climbing domestique David Lopez (Team Sky) and Paris-Roubaix winner (Niki Terpstra) are all among the Tour professionals to use Strava.

So if you want to compare your efforts against those of the pros, on some of the most iconic climbs of this year’s race, here are some of the best segments worth tackling.
