More of the longest, hardest and highest climbs to ride

Nothing captures a cyclist’s imagination more than a climb. Whether it’s the length, gradient, altitude or outright beauty, we continue to be drawn to the solitude and suffering of riding a bike uphill.

Having already brought you 12 must-ride climbs to tackle before you die – including Mont Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez and Bealach na Bà – our second installment brings another dozen iconic ascents to the table.

Part two includes everything from England’s Ventoux to the mythical climbs of the Tour de France, and from the highest paved road in Europe to a climb considered the most difficult in the world, rising from sea level to 4,217m in one fell swoop.
