Video: Les Alpes Trailer – Mike Cotty back to take on new epic challenge

To some, two wheels means pleasure – jumping onto your loyal steed and taking it for a spin down long, country roads or through picturesque hilly passes.

A momentary escape, the chance to feel the sun on your back and the wind rushing past as you take in breath-taking scenery.

To others it is a challenge, an opportunity, the chance to push yourself to your limits and beyond, daring to take on the wider world.

Mike Cotty certainly falls into the latter category, and proved it in 2011 when he tackled a monstrous 690km coast-to-coast ride through the Pyrenees, non-stop in an astonishing 30hrs 43mins.

Tackling fearsome climbs such as the Aubisque, Soulour, Tourmalet, Aspin and Peyresourde, Mike’s phenomenal ride was tracked live on RoadCyclingUK.

No stranger to gruelling challenges, Mike is a veteran of the Etape du Tour too, and now he is back for a new challenge.

While he is keeping his cards close to his chest as to the full nature of his task, he has already pulled off a 300-mile training ride from Herne Bay to Southampton in 19 hours last month.

And now, having released this tantalising trailer, Mike has promised another epic challenge in the Alps next month.

He said: “Things are starting to get a wee bit serious now and I think a 300-mile training ride could be the least of my worries.

“As you can guess it’s going to be in the Alps, sometimes in the day, sometimes at night and feature a heck of a lot of mountains!”
