Bespoked Bristol, the UK’s handmade bike show, will return to Brunel’s Old Station in Bristol from April 12 to 14, 2013.
Some 4,000 visitors attended this year’s show to see frames by builders including Ricky Feather, Tom Donhou, and Tom Warmerdam.
Curator, Phil Taylor, said a series of talks on the frame builder’s art would provide the centerpiece of the next year’s show.
“For the 2013 show, we think that ‘actions speak louder than words’ so we are going to build a bike from scratch, which will be made to fit one very lucky person.
“Some of the finest framebuilders, and bike fitters, in the world will be combining skills in this event.
“It’s really a platform for the artisan bicycle makers and their public to meet and share ideas. It’s lovely really.”
Cyfac, Merenyi Bicycles, and Brian Rourke will be among the exhibitors at next year’s show.
Rourke said: “I’ve been going to bike shows for about 50 years now and this one for me personally and for this type of show has been the best ever – not close but by miles.”
The first Bespoked Bristol was held in 2010 at Bristol’s Paintworks. Demand allowed Taylor to move the show to Brunel’s Old Station in 2011.
He said he had refused potential exhibitors this year to keep the show within the Victorian building next to Temple Meads station.
“To be honest, we’ve politely turned away a good number of potential exhibitors who didn’t really fit the ‘hand-made’ requirement,” he said.
